New experiences and new friends
Primrose House in Mayfield is dedicated to providing respite care (and fun!) for young people.
We welcome young people who wish to stay with us for just a few hours, a day, overnight or for longer visits. Like the other young people who live here, they will benefit from all the activities and experiences we have to offer.
This is a wonderful opportunity for them to expand their horizons, gain independence and make new friends.
By giving families this valuable support, we increase the likelihood that the young person will continue to stay living at home.
We never have a “one size fits all” approach, and our respite services are no exception to this.
We carefully assess the needs of each young person who comes to us, to make sure we are a good match for them. Our transition planning is specific to each young person’s individual needs. We ensure that they get to meet and know who will be caring for them before their first overnight visit. This helps ease anxiety and means they will have a familiar face to greet them when they come to stay.
We create a homely feel by personalising the room with the young person’s own choice of furnishings – so they really enjoy a “home away from home” experience.
For the duration of the young person’s stay, we will continue their education and any specialist assistance they need, maintaining a high level of support and continuity of care. We communicate regularly, before and after each stay, so that parents and carers are aware of the young person’s visit and how this went.
For young people who are with us for longer stays, we will help them maintain regular contact with their families.
Join in the fun
Those staying with us for respite care can also benefit from many of our learning, therapeutic and fun activities. Availability will depend on each individual’s needs and the length of their stay.
We ensure all our young people are supported to develop their skills and abilities, as well as having plenty of fun!
