About Mayfield Childrens Home

Mayfield Children’s Home is proud to have been rated ‘Outstanding‘ at our Ofsted inspection at the beginning of October, 2016 and following our interim Ofsted inspection on 6 March 2017, we are thrilled to have achieved the  ‘Improved Effectiveness’ grading, making us one of the best children’s services in the country.

Although this is the highest grade we can achieve from Ofsted, we always to strive for even better. The report quotes from a professional involved in supporting one of our young people, stating “{young person} is a very happy young lady and she is supported by a team of people who care hugely about her.  She is surrounded by care staff that are always there to advocate for her needs in a way I have not seen before in my 10 years working in the care sector”

Mayfield Children’s Home Ethos:

The overall aims of Mayfield Children’s Home are to provide a safe, caring and loving home for the children within the autistic spectrum, associated mental health issues, mild to profound learning difficulties and associated behavioural and communication difficulties.

Mayfield Children’s Home recognises the universal ambitions for every child and young person whatever their background or circumstances as set out in the Five Outcomes:

  • Be healthy
  • Stay safe
  • Enjoy & achieve
  • Make a positive contribution
  • Achieve economic well-being

All children and young people are consulted for their views and are included whenever possible in all the discussions and decisions that need to be made. The children are encouraged to attend a key working session each week where they meet with their own key worker on a one to one basis. A house meeting is held once a month involving all the children and young people, together with the staff and the team leader. The children and young people are supported to develop self esteem, self confidence and independent skills.

We are immensely passionate about providing excellent care and we feel this passion is reflected in our staff team and the length of time children and young people stay with us.
